20lb rock on a sandy road
• After miles on a trail like this, hard dirt turned to inches thick sand, and my 30mph speed continued
• Suddenly there was a 20lb rock, and it was too late to avoid it
• It made contact underneath and there was an unpleasant sound
Dent on oil pan
• One of numerous accidents, not unlike the above, caused the edge of the engine pan to be pushed in, in an area of about 2 inches
• Certain kind of damage to oil pan has consequences to the engine, whether there are leaks caused or just effecting the flow of oil
• Skid plate would have protected the oil pan
